Suspect’s attempted murder charge dropped in Kalihi shooting

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The man who allegedly shot at police officers on Sunday at Kuhio Park Terrace was set to be in court on Tuesday.

Blane Apostadiro was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer but was charged with terroristic threatening, reckless endangering, driving a stolen vehicle and gun charges.

Police said Apostadiro fled the vehicle he was driving and fired in the direction of the officers who were pursuing him.

The officers returned fire and struck Apostadiro multiple times.

HPD said he had a polymer ghost gun, which was recovered at the scene.

Apostadiro was out on $100,000 bail for drug charges when the shooting occurred and has a long criminal history, dating back to the late 90s.

He is being held on $1 million bail.
