Storm front remnants trigger numerous showers through Friday, some heavy

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A surge of windward showers is occurring thanks to remnant moisture from a cold front. The showers are passing through quickly thanks to breezy trades that are peaking at 25 mph. Showers may be quick passing and heavy near any mountains.

Tonight and Tomorrow:

  • Showers: Expect widespread showers for most islands except Kauai. Some areas, especially on the central islands of Oahu and Maui County, could see heavy rain and localized flooding.
  • Wind: Strong northeast winds are picking up, especially behind the front.

Weekend:

  • Showers: Periodic showers will continue due to trade winds. Shower intensity and amount will be decreasing compared to Thursday and Friday.
  • Wind: Breezy trade winds will persist.
