Cold front to bring showers to Kauai and Oahu starting Thursday

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A gradually weakening cod front is expected to bring an uptick in showers to Kauai and Oahu through Friday. Some showers for Kauai may be heavy at times. Showers for Maui and Hawaii Island should remain scarce into the weekend.

Thursday:

  • Stronger winds and heavier rain showers are possible over Kauai.
  • Isolated thunderstorms are possible, but less likely for the rest of the state.

Thursday Night and Friday:

  • Rain showers will diminish as the front moves through.
  • Strong north to northeast winds will shift to easterly winds.

Weekend and Early Next Week:

  • Light trade winds are expected to return.
  • Strong easterly trade winds are likely to return early next week.
