Kona winds and mostly dry conditions through this weekend

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Kona wind have taken hold and is expected to remain this weekend. Showers remained confined to the east side of Hawaii Island, with much of the state remaining dry. Trade winds return Monday before Christmas.

Later in the week, we expect more moisture and a higher chance of rain. A cold front will move south over the islands from Wednesday night into Thursday, bringing the best chance of light rain to northern and windward slopes, with northerly winds. This unsettled weather pattern continues into next weekend, with another front possibly arriving late Sunday into early next week.
