Delima retiring from student enrichment program, only doing limited shows

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Comedian Frank Delima announced it’s time to slow down. Health issues are forcing the 75-year-old to only do select shows and stop his other true love — inspiring children.

“Everybody says ‘you don’t look 76’ and ’76 not old these days,’” said Delima “I said you try get up in the morning.”

Delima said he could’ve retired from show business 10 years ago since his regular shows have slowed down. But he is giving up his student enrichment program which started in 1980. At its peak, it was three schools a day, five days a week across the state.

“Kindergarten they don’t know me right, until I saw 422-2222, then the eyes light up,” he said. “I’m gonna miss the schools a whole lot. I’m gonna miss those eyes, looking at me and waiting to help them laugh, and then also, they allow me, they have respect enough for me that they let me tell my message.”
