HALEIWA, Hawaii (Island News) — A 19-year-old female hiker in Haleiwa died after getting separated from her group on New Year’s Eve. A group of women were looking for one of their friends after hiking on New Year’s Eve. They reported she was missing to a Honolulu police officer in the Sunset Elementary parking lot just past midnight on Jan. 1, 2025. They said they went on a hike after a New Year’s party. The group was waiting for their friend who was supposed to drive them home.
