Satoru Abe, ‘godfather’ of Hawaii’s art scene, dies at 98

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A sculptor and painter known as the godfather of Hawaii’s art scene has died.

Satoru Abe, 98, was born in Moiliili attended McKinley High School, and the California Academy of Fine Arts.

His work was a mix of Eastern and Western influences and ended up in the Smithsonian Museum, winning him numerous awards…
