Update: Driver involved in hit-and-run that critically injured 30-year-old man arrested

Update at 11:05 a.m. Feb. 14: Kaua‘i police found an unattended vehicle and its driver thought to be involved in a hit-and-run traffic collision the night of Feb. 12 on Nāwiliwili Road in Līhu‘e that critically injured a 30-year-old man.

Officers located and took into custody 54-year-old Salvin Hilario, who has no permanent address, at about 8:30 p.m. Feb. 13.

Hilario was arrested for:

  • First-degree negligent injury.
  • Leaving the scene of a collision with serious bodily injury.
  • Driving without a valid driver’s license.
  • Reckless driving.
  • Inattention to driving.

He is detained in the Kaua‘i Police Department cellblock…
