HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Dr. Jim Ireland has led the city’s Department of Emergency Services for the past four years. A City Council committee got an earful from detractors who say he doesn’t deserve another four, because the department is in worse shape than it was when he began.
“I’ve never testified against a director before. But I felt it was my responsibility to come forward to oppose his nomination,” said retired EMS District Chief and current State 911 Board member Edward Fujioka.
