HONOLULU (Island News) — Persistent water leaks, moldy conditions and failing equipment are highlighted at Hawaii state hospital’s Hale Hoʻola. This comes as lawmakers are asked for millions more to repair the recently built psychiatric facility.
“We have a leaky roof, leaky walls, plumbing leaks, a ventilation system that doesn’t work as it should, so there is mold growing in the building,” said Gordon Wood, the Department of Accounting and General Services Public Works Administrator.
It sounds like that is just another old state building falling apart, but it is actually the State Hospital’s Hale Ho’ola that just opened in 2022, but now needs millions more from state lawmakers…
