HONOLULU (Island News) — Three former city leaders were charged with misdemeanor conspiracy in connection to the $250,000 payout for former Honolulu Police Chief Louis Kealoha in 2017.
The officials who received charges today include former Corporation Counsel Donna Leong, ex-Honolulu Police Commission Chair Max Sword and former City Managing Director Roy Amemiya.
This misdemeanor charge comes three years after they originally faced felony charges for the 2017 payout to Kealoha.
Leong and Sword took a plea deal to pay $100,000 fines and serve one year under supervised release. Amemiya’s charge will remain a misdemeanor as long as he is not convicted of a crime…
