WAIKIKI, Hawai‘i (Island News) — Waikiki hotel workers rally for management to settle their new contract leading up to International Women’s Day on Saturday.
Over 100 UNITE HERE Local 5 hotel workers from The Modern Honolulu and the Ilikai Hotel are rallying for a fair contract, calling on management to “respect our work” and “respect our guests.” What motivated this is Women’s History Month happening in March as well as International Women’s Day being in two days on March 8.
Rallies are taking place on Thursday evening on The Modern Honolulu’s pool deck and in the front of the Ilikai Hotel. Modern and Ilikai workers are fighting for improvements that meet the “Waikiki Standard” that was secured at ten other Hawai‘i hotels that resulted from the two historic strikes at the end of 2024…
