Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaii makes annual return

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Thousands of lanterns are expected to fill Ala Moana Beach once again as the Shinnyo Lantern Floating Hawaii makes its annual return.

The event will celebrate its 27th year at Ala Moana on Memorial Day with the theme “Many Rivers, One Ocean” to honor fallen service members and loved ones.

“The ceremony is the largest Memorial Day event in the U.S. and hopes to connect the community by offering a space, physical and emotional, for residents and visitors to experience a sense of comfort, connection and healing.”
