More than 200 DUI arrests made on Big Island so far in 2025, another 15 last week

Hawai‘i Island police arrested 15 intoxicted drivers on Big Island roadways during the week of March 10-16, the same as the week before, bringing the total number of motorists taken into custody for driving under the influence since the beginning of 2025 up to 201.

It’s just 4 more than the 197 DUI arrests made by the same time last year, but does represent a 2.03% increase from year-to-year.

Kona surpassed all the other districts, by far, last week with 11 DUI arrests. Hilo had 3 and Puna just 1. Hilo continues to lead for the year with 79 so far, Kona has 71 and Puna with 33…
