HONOLULU (Island News) — Calling all learners! Whether you’re a parent whose child is about to start kindergarten, or if you’re a high schooler about to graduate, these summer programs could be the next big opportunity.
Kindergarten can be stressful for both the parent and the child. That’s why the Summer Start Transition Program, which returns this year, exposes the keiki to a classroom environment. It may be taught in a home, but it helps the child build confidence, especially if they have little to no preschool experience.
Older children and young adults in high school also have some opportunities to learn and grow this summer. HIDOE is offering online courses for high school students that register through Hawaii Online Courses (formerly known as E-School). This can help them earn more high school credits or recover some they might have lost.
