First Alert Forecast: Elevated rain chances for Kauai and Oahu due to approaching cold front

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A weak cold front is expected to approach the island chain on Thursday and Friday, increasing the chance for rain over Kauai and Oahu. This front is currently positioned to the northwest of the Garden Isle, slowly creeping toward the state.

Kauai will start seeing rain and showers starting Thursday morning. The rain chances are expected to continue into the afternoon and Friday. The frontal boundary is expected to stall over Kauai into the weekend.

As the front dissipates, scattered showers will continue for Kauai and Oahu. The bulk of the rainfall will be focused over Kauai, but some of the moisture may move east enough to impact Oahu…
