HONOLULU (Island News) – The deadline to obtain a Real ID Hawaii’s driver’s license or state ID is fast approaching.
The city’s Division of Motor Vehicles announced that starting on May 7, 2025, all air travelers 18-years-old and older must have a Real ID-compliant driver’s license or state-issued identification card to board domestic flights and enter some federal buildings.
“We are encouraging residents to take advantage of the DMV extended Saturday hours at select locations and make an appointment to get a Real ID-compliant driver’s license or State ID,” said Kim Hashiro, director of the city’s Department of Customer Services.
Real ID-compliant cards can be identified with a star marking in the front, upper right-hand corner of the driver’s license or state IDs.
