HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Get ready for increasing showers and a slight chance for thunderstorms starting Sunday afternoon through Tuesday as an upper level disturbance combines with increasing moisture over the islands. Right now, forecast models are hinting that Tuesday will be the most active weather day. At the moment, we are not expecting widespread flooding. Breezy trade winds are expected to return for the latter part of the week.
In surf, a small northwest swell will peak early Sunday and then decline slowly for the rest of the week. A medium long-period north-northwest swell could bring waves near advisory levels Thursday. South shores will have small waves from small background swells, while east shore surf will be below to near average.
