California Woman Tragically Dies After Being Found Unresponsive at Hanalei Beach Park in Kaua‘i

A tragic incident unfolded at Hanalei Beach Park as a woman from California lost her life after being recovered from the sea, according to a county press release. Ricki Fehr, 72, was found unresponsive in the water on Thursday afternoon and despite immediate rescue efforts, she did not survive.

Emergency services were alerted on Thursday at around 12:45 p.m. when beachgoers spotted an unresponsive woman floating near the shoreline. They brought her onto the sand, where responders from the Kaua‘i Fire Department and American Medical Response performed life-saving measures. However, their rescue attempts were unsuccessful, and Fehr was later declared deceased at Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital.
