The color turquoise will illuminate Honolulu Hale and Neal S. Blaisdell Arena from sundown on Monday, May 5, 2024, to sunrise on Sunday, May 11, 2024, at the request of Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi to honor the American Lung Association’s “Turquoise Takeover” campaign, which raises awareness of lung cancer.
Turquoise is the signature color of the American Lung Association’s campaign to end lung cancer, known as “LUNG FORCE.” The color represents a breath of fresh air. Since its inception in 2014, LUNG FORCE has raised $30 million for research, education and advocacy.
“Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, and far too many families in Hawaii have been impacted by this disease,” said Mayor Rick Blangiardi in a statement. “By lighting Honolulu Hale and the Neal S. Blaisdell Arena in turquoise, we stand in solidarity with those affected and reaffirm our commitment to raising awareness, supporting early detection efforts, and funding research that will save lives.”…
