‘The show will go on:’ UH Asia Pacific Dance Festival continues despite funding setback

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Asia Pacific Dance Festival (APDF) continues this week at the UH Manoa campus, featuring cultural performances, dance workshops and a conference.

Hosted by UH Manoa’s Outreach College, the festival suffered a setback, losing a $25,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. But organizers said the community rallied in support, allowing the event to continue.

“While this loss poses a significant challenge, the APDF team remains committed to delivering an inspiring celebration of dance, culture and connection, and this only strengthens our resolve. We’re not canceling, we’re coming together. The show will go on,” said festival associate director SheenRu Yong, who joined HNN’s Sunrise, along with Deepti Gupta, artistic director of the Arzoo Dance Theatre, one of the resident artist groups taking part…
