HONOLULU (Island News) — A program designed to help teach people in need about growing their own food and many related topics, may be in jeopardy.
SNAP-Ed has been eliminated from the federal budget being debated this year by Congress – putting the future of the program at risk in Hawaii and throughout the nation.
Jaki Knaus with Hawaii Children’s Action Network told Island News Sunday, “When they do these cuts to SNAP, it effects so many people, millions across the nation, not just Hawaii. It’s up to the states then to come in and help them and make sure that they’re fed.”…
