Hawaii Kai man acquitted of attempted murder in stabbing of roommates, landlord

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A man accused of brutally stabbing his two roommates and his landlord nearly two years ago was acquitted Friday by reason of insanity.

Matthew Smith, now 43, had opted for a bench trial on one count of first-degree attempted murder and three counts of second-degree attempted murder.
