Hawaiian Electric maintenance to cause road closures downtown

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Hawaiian Electric is informing the public about the routine maintenance scheduled to occur in downtown Honolulu on June 16 and June 17, causing some lane closures.

The maintenance will be on underground utility equipment and comes with parking restrictions in addition to the closures.

Oahu’s traffic deaths in 2025 have doubled compared to the same time last year

On June 16, the far-right makai-bound lane of Bishop Street will be shut down between South Beretania and South Hotel Streets, near the Ainamalu Office building.

The following day, on June 17, the far-right mauka-bound lane of Alakea Street between South Hotel and South Beretania Streets, with the restricted parking zones marked with appropriate signage.
