Independence Day Disturbance in Waianae, Two Men Arrested for Firearm and Drug Possession

In the early hours of Independence Day, the tranquility of Waianae’s coastal vistas was punctuated by the sound of gunfire. According to the Honolulu Police Department’s official social media account, reports came in just before 9 a.m. of three males by a gold-colored Honda, firing a weapon out to sea.

On site, District 8 patrol officers were quick to locate and challenge the suspects, who were still inside the vehicle. A visible firearm resting with one of individual prompted immediate action. The police recovered the gun, which was equipped with high-capacity magazine and also observed what they suspected to be a sizable quantity of drugs. The scene, once serene with the morning tide, had swiftly converted into the epicenter of law enforcement activity.

The apprehended driver, a 48-year-old male, faces charges for the possession of the firearm and the intent to promote dangerous substances. His counterpart, a passenger aged 58, was arrested under suspicion of a third-degree similar accusation.
