HONOLULU (KHON2) — An Oʻahu jury found 49-year-old Jason Walker guilty of Assault in the Second Degree on July 3, the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney said.
Victim loses hand in Waikiki sword attack
In July 2022, the department says Walker severed a 54-year-old man’s left hand off with a double-edge sword. He also severely injured the victim’s right hand, as he had attacked the victim on various parts of his body, the department said.
“This type of brutality cannot be tolerated in our country. This was a tough case. We appreciate the jury’s decision to hold this defendant accountable for his actions,” Prosecuting Attorney Steve Alm said. “We want to thank the Honolulu Police officers who quickly rendered aid to the victim as well as conducted the investigation into this case.”
