HAWAII KAI, Hawaii (Island News) — A teenage hiker was airlifted to safety Monday morning after suffering an injury near the Makapu‘u Tidepools off the popular Makapu‘u Lighthouse Trail in Hawai‘i Kai, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
HFD said it received a 911 call on July, 7, 2025 at 10:13 a.m. reporting a hiker in distress. Six units with 16 personnel responded, with the first team arriving on scene at 10:26 a.m. using a Rapid Response Vehicle to access the trail. A second unit secured a nearby landing zone in preparation for air operations.
Firefighters reached the injured hiker by foot at 10:41 a.m. and provided basic life support after conducting a medical assessment. The female, described as a teen, was unable to return to the trail on her own due to her injuries…
