HONOLULU (Island News) — The state is searching for members to fill its advisory board for the Hawaii Tourism Authority.
The Hawaii Office of Boards and Commissions announced Friday, July 11, that it is accepting applications. The board would fall under the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism.
This comes more than a week after every member on the previous board turned in their resignations to Governor Josh Green. Green had called for them to step down after the board was downgraded to an advisory rule.
The advisory board will have 12 members, including representatives from Honolulu, Hawaii, Kauai and Maui counties. Half of the members should have expertise in areas like accommodations, transportation or attractions. Additionally, one member must have knowledge of Hawaiian cultural practices, appointed by the Governor with the state Senate’s consent…
