Surveillance footage helps HPD arrest man involved in Sheridan playground fire

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 28-year-old suspect has been arrested, charged and indicted on an arson charge in connection with the fire that destroyed a Makiki playground.

Honolulu Parks and Recreation spokesperson Nate Serota said Honolulu police arrested Brendon Seis on July 3, after surveillance footage placed him at the scene of the crime.

Playground in Makiki burned down, causes up to $300K in damage

The playground was set ablaze around 8:45 a.m. on June 30. Honolulu firefighters responded shortly after and extinguished the flames.
