HONOLULU (KHON2) — Today the new all-electric and zero emissions buses were revealed by state and county representatives.
Plans in motion to revitalize Honolulu’s Chinatown
The new electric buses will replace 12 diesel buses across Maui, Hawaii Island, and Kauai.
“These new electric buses are a significant step toward reducing our emissions and expanding sustainable transportation options for our residents,” said Kimo Alameda, Hawaii Island Mayor. “They are a win both for our environment and the people of Hawaii. Mahalo to our federal and state partners for helping us make this forward-thinking investment possible.”
Officials say that this upgrade will help reduce approximately 17.5 tons of greenhouse gas emissions over the lifetime of each bus. This can help improve air quality and protect the public health of those in targeted areas across Hawaii susceptible to air pollutants…
