City hosts second major homeless cleanup of Diamond Head

HONOLULU (KHON2) — City and State agencies lined the slopes of Diamond Head for a clean-up.

Residents want sustained enforcement on Diamond Head homeless

This serves as the second major cleanup of the area since April. Many homeless camps have been set up on the slopes, and those who lived there were offered services.

“We decided, we looked at all the complaints, the feedback that we’re getting from the communities, understanding where they’re coming from. Especially, it comes down to public safety,” said Roy Miyahira, Director of Homeless Solutions.

“We also have a lot of night problems with them because they come down and many have mental health issues or substance abuse issues,” said Louise Hiatt, a resident. “And also they come and scourge into our carports and into our houses and look for items to replenish.”…
