HONOLULU (Island News) — Two Chief of War stars shared their thoughts about taking on their roles in the new Apple TV Plus series.
Kaina Makua, who plays King Kamehameha had his doubts when Jason Momoa mentioned it years ago. “I thought he was full of it,” says the UH graduate, who never had aspirations of acting. “I told him that. A lot of pule went into it. Talked to elders who said if not you, then who?”
Te Ao O Hinepehinga, who plays Chief Kaiana’s wife Kupuohi, also worried if the role was right for her, saying “I was questioning myself the entire audition process wondering if this was the right move. I had to put my faith in the akua.”…
