HIEMA monthly siren and emergency alert system tests to run on Friday

HONOLULU (Island News) — Hawaii’s regularly-scheduled warning sirens that get tested at the beginning of every month will still be conducted on Friday, Aug. 1 at 11:45 a.m.

The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HIEMA) has notified the public that the warning siren will still run its monthly test after tsunami warnings were sounded off on Wednesday, July 29.

The upcoming siren test will be coordinated with a test of the Live Audio Broadcast segment of the Emergency Alert System. The Live Audio Broadcast segment will be conducted at roughly the same time as the monthly siren sounding, in cooperation with the Hawaii broadcast industry.
