HONOLULU (KHON2) — A tsunami warning on Tuesday, July 29, caused overnight road closures across Hawaiʻi; however, by sunrise, roads and harbors reopened with help from the military and the United States Coast Guard.

“We’re really happy to be up and running,” said Ed Sniffen, Director for the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation.
Sniffen said the Coast Guard moved quickly to help inspect and clear the ports.
“We’re working with the Coast Guard to clear out our ports,” he said. “At 5 a.m., we started with an inspection. By 6:30 [a.m.], we cleared the landside; and by 7:30 [a.m.], we cleared all commercial ports to open up again.”…
