Bodyboarder rescued in near drowning at Point Panic in Kakaako

KAKAAKO, Hawaii (Island News) — A bodyboarder was rescued by lifeguards after nearly drowning at Point Panic on Thursday afternoon.

Honolulu Ocean Safety responded to the unresponsive man in his 50s at 4:33 p.m. on July 31. He was in the waters 200 yards off the surf spot part of Kakaako Beach Park.

The rescued man was transported by jet ski to the lifeguard tower at the Ewa end of Ala Moana Beach Park. CPR was administered once he was on shore and his treatment was transferred to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS)…
