State automates Honolulu parking garage, changes in parking process

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Hawaiʻi Department of Accounting and General Services Automotive Management Division is set to automate payments at the South Street lot connected to the First Circuit Court on Aug. 11.

The lot’s automation will affect lawyers, prosecutors, jurors, witnesses and more.

“We are more efficiently using our state resources by automating the payment process. Currently one parking attendant staffs the booth at the gate and one attendant patrols the lot for parking payment compliance,” DAGS Director and Comptroller Keith Regan said. “We will reassign those workers to other duties to better serve the public.”
