Police in Honolulu arrested a woman this week for taking a boat from the city’s harbor and going for a joyride despite a statewide tsunami warning.
The tsunami alert was prompted by Tuesday’s magnitude 8.8 earthquake off the coast of Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia. During tsunami warnings, Hawaii’s residents are asked to move inland to higher ground and avoid low-lying coastal areas.
The woman, unnamed by police, took the boat out on the water Tuesday night and returned to harbor at around 4 a.m. Wednesday, crashing into other boats as she did so, according to Honolulu’s KITV…
