Oʻahu’s 50th fatality highlights traffic crisis in 2025

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Oʻahu is experiencing a deadly surge as the number of traffic fatalities has doubled from 2024.

On Sunday, Aug. 10, the Honolulu Police Department said they were called to a collision between a motorcycle and a car at around 7:15 p.m.

HPD reported that a vehicle driven by a 44-year-old female made a left turn onto Waiomea Street as she was traveling westbound on Farrington Highway. This turn was made against a red arrow signal.

Once she made the turn, according to police, she was broadsided by a motorcycle being driven by a 25-year-old male who was traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway…
