New Hong Kong Roast Meat Spot Packs Honolulu Crowds

Kevin’s Kitchen has been drawing packed crowds to South Beretania Street since opening in June, with the new Hong Kong-style roast meat specialist quickly establishing itself as one of Honolulu’s buzziest dining destinations. The restaurant operates at 1296 S. Beretania St. No. 106, maintaining daily hours from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Local food blogger Jenny reports the restaurant is “right next to Epi-Ya Boulangerie & Patisserie” in the same shopping plaza as Times Supermarket. According to Jenny, “they specialize in Cantonese/Hong Kong food and are known for their roast meats.”

Dual Dining Experience

Kevin’s operates as both a sit-down restaurant and takeout counter, offering flexibility for different dining preferences. Jenny explains that customers can “walk into the restaurant and let the staff know” whether they want sit-down service or takeout plates from the back.

Aloha State Daily notes the restaurant features “a butcher counter within the restaurant” and offers lunch specials from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with “one- or two-choice combo plates” featuring options like char siu, roast pork, shoyu chicken and roast duck.

Early Acclaim

The restaurant has already earned recognition on Yelp among Honolulu’s top Chinese restaurants, a notable achievement for such a new establishment. Customer reviews highlight the roast duck in particular, with TripAdvisor reviewers praising the “generous portions” and noting the “Peking duck was on point.”…
