HONOLULU (KHON2) — Lanes on Nimitz Highway and Iwilei Road will be closed for the next five years starting Aug. 18, 2025, the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation announced.
Between ‘Awa Street and Bishop Street, one lane of Nimitz Highway in both the eastbound and westbound directions will be closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week for construction.
Multiple H-1 collisions shut down portion of freeway
Crews will work on the elevated rail guideway and stations.
The City Center Guideway and Stations project is expected to be completed in September 2030, HART said.
