Fatal accident involving a motorcyclist on Nimitz Highway

HONOLULU (KHON2) — On Aug. 30, around 2:35 am, an accident involving a 49-year-old male motorcyclist on Nimitz Highway in the Kalihi area became Oahu’s 56th traffic fatality this year.

HPD, Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, reported that the motorcyclist was headed westbound on Nimitz Highway, traveling at a high rate of speed before he lost control of the vehicle, causing him to collide with the concrete curb.

The collision caused him to be ejected onto the roadway. The motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Officials determined that speed appears to be a factor in the accident, but it is still undetermined if alcohol or drugs were involved…
