A brush fire in Moanalua, which was sparked by a downed power line, was successfully contained by the Honolulu Fire Department, officials reported. The incident occurred on the Ala Aolani Trail last Saturday morning, with the first emergency units arriving on scene by 11:20 a.m., less than 20 minutes after being alerted to the developing situation at 11:05 a.m., as noted by KHON2.
According to reports from KHON2, a contractor worker witnessed the power line falling and igniting the small brush fire, which spread to an area of approximately 100 feet by 100 feet. A total of six units staffed with 16 personnel were deployed to tackle the blaze. The fire department was able to contain the brush fire by 1:22 p.m., after which the scene was handed over to the Division of Forestry and Wildlife for continued monitoring.
