HONOLULU (KHON2) — For this episode of Wahine Wednesday, we learn about Susan Wilkinson, founder of Susie’s Ducks — a local nonprofit in Hawai‘i dedicated to the rescue, care, and protection of waterfowl.
Executive Director and Founder, Susan Wilkinson, began her mission after noticing abandoned and injured ducks in need of safe shelter and medical attention, beginning with her first duck, Daffy. What started as a personal passion quickly grew into an organized effort to give these ducks a second chance. Today, Susie’s Ducks provides food, rehabilitation, and long-term sanctuary for ducks, geese, and other waterfowl that might otherwise be overlooked.
Susie shared that starting the nonprofit was both a labor of love and a leap of faith, fueled by her compassion for animals and her desire to give back to the community. Now, she’s calling on the public to join her. Volunteers are needed to help with feeding, cleaning, and caring for the birds, as well as supporting the nonprofit’s outreach and fundraising efforts and you can help!…
