University Lab School parents want supporters to make their voices heard on future of school’s site

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The deadline to comment on the future of a prime spot in Manoa is Friday. Two of the three tenants are set to leave, but University Lab School wants supporters to speak up before a final decision.

This 15-acre parcel in Manoa is home to the UH Manoa Children’s Center, UH’s College of Education, and University Lab School. With the Children’s Center and College of Ed scheduled to move, state lawmakers called on a feasibility study to see what, if anything, should be developed there.

That has some ULS parents concerned.

“We want to continue to be there and continue to grow,” said Jason Swanson, University Lab School parent. “So our question is, are we being heard, and how are we being incorporated in the long-term plan?”…
