Local malasada business fined after removing red placard

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A local malasada business has been fined by the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) Food Safety Branch for the intentional removal of a red “closed” placard.

The DOH issued a notice of violation and order to Manuela Malasadas Co., LLC, doing business as Manuela Malasadas, located at 56-565 Kamehameha Hwy., for unlawfully removing the placard from its mobile food establishment.

The placard was issued on July 10 because the facility did not have water available for required hand washing…
