Olay’s Thai Food Express in Aiea was closed Thursday after a food inspector discovered multiple refrigerators were not cold enough, along with other food safety violations, according to a Hawaii Department of Health news release.
The Department of Health issued a red “closed” placard to Olay’s Thai Food Express at 99-927 Iwaena Street in Aiea during a routine inspection after discovering:
- No hand soap at the handwashing sinks in the kitchen and employee restroom
- No paper towels or hand-drying devices at the handwashing sink in the employee restrooms
- Food stored in direct contact with a reused cardboard box, which is an unapproved packaging
- No sanitizer on site to wash utensils and equipment
- Three of the four refrigeration units, including the walk-in refrigerator, were not at proper cold-holding temperatures of 41-Fahrenheit or below
- Ready-to-Eat and Time/Temperature Control for Safety food items were not marked to show the date by which they must be consumed or discarded
Olay’s Thai Food Express operated by Dan Heung, LLC, must remain closed until DOH conducts a follow-up inspection and determines the eatery has resolved all-cold holding violations. DOH also said Olay’s Thai Food Express can not prepare any food that will be served or distributed to the public at the restaurant or off-site until it is reopened…
