With no public parking available at Leeward Community College for the popular Megabon event on Saturday, Sept. 13, the city’s Department of Transportation Services is temporarily extending Skyline’s operating hours, 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. just for the event.
Due to the demolition of Aloha Stadium, Megabon will be held at LCC from 3:45 to 9 p.m. Attendees can take part in bon dance festivities, a showcase of LCC’s Culinary & Educational Programs, beer garden, Japanese festival games, local crafts and food vendors and a Taiko performance.
This year’s event is also dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II with representatives from the 100th Battalion attending the opening ceremony, which will feature a cultural exchange of Hawaii and Japan taiko performances.
