HONOLULU (Island News) — Oahu has seen a 25% drop in stolen vehicles for 2025, compared to last year, and the number of vehicle break-in has dropped nearly 40%.
But thousands of vehicles will still be involved in these types of crimes this year, just like they are every year.
So far, this year about 1,200 vehicles were stolen on Oahu, while around 1,600 cars and trucks have been broken into. With some vehicle brands targeted more than others.
“I think it’s because they’re the most popular vehicles. Obviously Toyota, followed by Ford. We’re seeing Kia now, followed by Honda. Those are the top four vehicles that being stolen right now,” said Major Paul Okamoto with the Honolulu Police Department…
