Police still searching for hit-and-run driver who killed woman in Kalihi

KALIHI, Hawaii (Island News) — The alarming number of traffic deaths across Oahu is hitting close to home for Zeny Austria who often crosses the road on North School Street to get to the bus stop.

A hit-and-run driver on Monday night killed a woman at that same cross walk, the island’s 63rd traffic fatality, more than double last year’s count.

“It’s just scary especially the old people. Even me, I’m old too so nighttime I don’t go out. I scared,” Austria said. “Before I go walk nighttime over here now, no.”…
