Man, 66, arrested in connection to Waikiki bank robbery

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 66-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the attempted robbery and use of noxious substance case at a Waikiki bank.

According to the Honolulu Police Department, the man turned himself in at the Kapolei Federal Building, where officers made the arrest.

BACKGROUND — Chemical dispersed during Waikiki bank robbery

The initial incident happened on Monday, Sept. 29 after the man entered the First Hawaiian Bank Waikiki branch and demanded money from the bank teller.

When the teller handed over the incorrect amount of currency, the man became “agitated and walked toward the exit.”…
